Excellent. We stopped in for some pastries and cookies. Everything was really, really good. Cinnamon twist, cardamom bun, good friend cookie, and a molasses. I would give 6 stars because they list allergens and it is a huge help. Service was friendly and fast.

This is one of the best cafes i have been to in charleston! We got there right when it opened and everything was made fresh! I loved all the bakery options, from your basic chocolate chip cookie to treats with all sorts of different things in it! The coffee was also really great and so was the breakfast sandwich i had. If it wouldn’t have had the sauce that was on it, it would’ve been bad. But that sauce, oh my god it was glorious 💋 I can’t wait to come back and try all of the other different bakery items and things on the menu!

This is some of the best coffee that I have ever had. The staff is always friendly. And the coffee is always fresh. Plus there is no additional charge for oat milk or almond milk. Love it!

didn’t have too much chance to try their coffee, but the buns and pastries here were really good. Parking is hard to find though.

Fabulous little cafe. Sister cafe to Harken downtown (also very sweet). I LOVED their breakfast sandwich and honey cookie. The coffee was good too (Americano). Mix of students, locals in the neighborhood, visitors and families. They have a lovely option to pay $5 for a local neighbor in need to get a free drink. I think this is an effort to acknowledge the gentrification and impact on the surrounding neighborhood. My only warning is that the sitting space is not amenable to fat people and larger bodies or wheelchairs. The tables are attached to the floor with very little space between. Totally fine to order to go or to sit at the front counter, but not then back seating area. Overall a great spot and would definitely go back!!

We are visiting from Wisconsin on our honeymoon and stopped at Harbinger Café this morning, and they absolutely crushed it. The lattes were so good!!!!!! I got the honey latte and my wife had the maple, and both were delicious and perfectly made. The quiche was out of this world. I tried a bite from my wife’s plate and was blown away by how flavorful and fluffy it was. She could not stop smiling the entire time we sat inside enjoying breakfast and our coffees. The granola bowl was another standout with fresh apples, berries, and fruit that made every bite so tasty and refreshing. The café itself is beautiful, warm, and cozy, and it actually goes back farther than you’d expect with plenty of comfortable seating. Everything about this place felt thoughtful and relaxed, and it was the perfect way to start our day in Charleston.

I’ve been going to Harbinger for 6 years, and can today say I had the best meal in Charleston here. While my partner and I regularly walk over for a chai or pastry, today we got the Brussel Caesar, Carrot Salad, Winter Caprese Sandwich & Spice Girl. To say it’s better than a dinner we had the night before (at a new Michelin star) is honestly an understatement. Every single flavor was perfect, our lattes were impeccably balanced, and the festive decor created the ultimate cozy vibe. I hope the amazing gals working behind the coffee counter & chef station get a well earned holiday thanks for the magic they make here every day.

I love the Harbinger because their cold brew gets me ZOOTED. My favorite treat is the Cha Cha Cha Chia, dense but soft and chewy bar with yummy frosting. I like trying their lunch trios. They change the lunch often and keep it interesting. The atmosphere is welcoming and I like their seating outside in the back. Parking is tricky in this area but always worth it. It’s a short walk from Habitat for Humanity, so it’s nice to grab a coffee and go thrift shopping!

I love this place. I ordered the harbinger sandwich (phenomenal) and the turmeric dirty chai latte. There was a slight mishap with the latte, but Hannah and the team were super kind and re-made it for no extra cost. The vibes inside are very cozy, the bathroom is immaculately clean, and the WiFi is fast. (I will warn that they play music pretty loudly in here. If you prefer to work in silence, you may want to go elsewhere) Good place to get some work done and enjoy the surroundings.

From the outside it reads as a takeaway coffee stop, and that modesty is part of the charm. Push past the counter and there's a proper seating area where some genuinely serious food is being made. We went for coffee and ended up eating — the focaccia, the avocado toast, a bagel, iced coffee — and came away more surprised than a café has surprised us in a while. Not surprised-for-a-coffee-shop surprised. Just surprised, full stop. The food is really, really good, and the neighbourhood-gem energy is completely unforced. No agenda, no pretension, just a place doing its thing exceptionally well. Don't sleep on this one.
